I had previously ordered Katz and had it shipped to Georgia. It was so good, I had to get to NY to try the sandwich fresh from the restaurant. It did NOT disappoint. They started by bringing fresh pickles to the table while I read through the menu. I ordered the corned beef Ruben. No sides. I enjoyed that sandwich like I was starving to death. The meat was fresh sliced and amazingly tender. The sauerkraut, swiss cheese and Russian dressing offered a balanced flavor that complemented the meat. The bread was falling apart (that's how I knew that I was having fun). It is a "must do" when you are in town. The walls were covered with photos of celebrities who have visited the restaurant. If i were to give you one piece of advice while visiting, go to the back of the restaurant and ask to be seated by the wait staff. You can take your chances with open seating, but you might be eating while standing.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Katz’s Delicatessen is one of those NYC places you have to experience at least once. The pastrami on rye was AMAZING, and the sandwich was so big that the two of us couldn’t even finish one. At some point, we had to admit defeat. The pastrami won. 😂 My carver may have been a little behind schedule, though. He actually told me he had just woken up, and the sample he gave me was pretty skimpy. I’m guessing the coffee hadn’t kicked in yet. 😂 The steak fries were okay, but at $10.95 I expected them to be a little hotter. The real star is the atmosphere. Katz’s feels like stepping into a piece of old-school New York history. You can feel the decades of stories, famous visitors, and giant pastrami sandwiches in the walls. A couple of tips: DON’T LOSE YOUR TICKET! Cash is in the front and card is in the back. Trust me, you’ll want to know that before you’re standing there looking confused. Overall, 4 stars. Amazing pastrami, incredible history and atmosphere, just a sleepy carver and lukewarm fries keeping it from five. Definitely worth experiencing!
